Every now and then my dad likes to have a “nutrition tune up” with me. He doesn’t do any formal working out, but he does aim to get his 10k a day (10,000 steps a day) when he can. He has come to learn however, that nutrition is REALLY 90% of the work when it comes to reaching your goals and leading a healthy life. For a while, my dad fell off the healthy eating bandwagon and quickly found himself eating donuts, cookies and brownies daily (oops!).
Hey, ain’t nothin wrong with a cookie or brownie– but when you have them every day– along with other not so ideal choices– it starts to add up!
So I told my dad one thing and that was to replace his nightly cookie/brownie with a healthy Protein Ice cream. Now my dad has barely touched protein powder in his life, and he is quite the picky eater.. but he has come to LOVE this nightly snack. Trust me, if he LOVES it– I have a hunch you will too!
Not only will this satisfy your sweet tooth, but it’s super healthy! My dad needs to keep an eye on his blood sugar and the morning after he has this sweet treat, his blood sugar is in the ideal range !! 🙂
Put the following in a blender:
1/2-1 scoop of protein powder (he uses Quest Nutrition Chocolate Milkshake)
1 handful of frozen berries (he used raspberries & blueberries)
5-6 Ice cubes
1/2 cup of water
BLEND !!! *Add more water to make it thinner, add ice to thicken it up*
Top with some nuts for a perfect snack (he used pistachios)
