How to Overcome the Pain of Fat Loss

Fat loss requires pain. Pretty bold statement isn’t it??
I don’t just mean physical pain of being sore from your workouts… that’s not what I’m getting at.
Before I explain myself, let me give you a little background on where I’m coming from. I’m currently reading the book Awaken The Giant Within by Tony Robbins and I came across a pretty profound quote in the book that I want to share with you.

“Anything you want {in life} that is valuable, requires that you break through some short-term pain in order to gain long-term pleasure”.


Tony goes in to explain that although the short term pain SUCKS, there comes a point where that painful action, becomes an action that gives you pleasure.
How does this apply to your fat loss journey?
Let me explain….
How many times have you said to yourself, “I know I should have my vegetables—but I really just want a few potato chips (or alcohol or cookie or whatever it is), I’ll start fresh tomorrow”.
Thus, you choose the chips.
Then tomorrow comes and again you are tempted to eat the chips… “just a few won’t hurt” and again—you choose the chips over your veggies.
In the moment, you are avoiding the pain (of eating vegetables) for the short term pleasure (by eating the chips).
BUT, what happens if you decide to power through the “pain” and tell yourself that you will CHOOSE your veggies over chips? It might be painful at first…BUT the more you do it—you begin to realize…your body is CHANGING….you are getting LEANER you are feeling AMAZING… THERE are the RESULTS!
Suddenly, eating your vegetables is now a PLEASURABLE process because you know that they are helping build the body you want.
Catch my drift?
In summary— Fat loss is NOT easy, especially in the beginning. We MUST go through that short-term pain of giving up things we are used to, in order to get to our goals! It can be easy to give in to instant gratification, but giving in to instant gratification is what KEEPS YOU STUCK!!!!!
What makes you achieve your goals?
The ONE trick to overcoming the pain of fat loss is to go THROUGH it! Just pushing forward in the beginning– when it’s REALLY painful– is what will take you THERE!!!!!!!
I encourage you—be stubborn about your goals.  Power through the “pain”… the more you make it a habit.. the easier it will get. And suddenly, eating to reach your goals becomes pleasurable because the more you do it, the more you realize how it TRULY pays off.
